Fabricated: Young man, saw a woman bathing, ran away from hell-fire.

Classification: Fabricated. (Refer to Mawdu'at Ibn Al-Jawzi)
A young man from Ansar, whose name was Tha’labah bin ‘Abdur-Rahman accepted Islam and he used to run errands for the Messenger of Allah . One day Rasulullah sent him for some work and while walking through the city of Madinah, he passed by the door of a house of an Ansari and his gaze fell on a woman taking a bath. He immediately lowered his gaze and thought Allah will reveal on the Prophet of what I have done. With an extreme feeling of guilt and hypocrisy in his mind, he ran out of the city, thinking to himself, how could I be of the companions, one that is close to the Prophet , one who runs his errands and be so horrible as to disrespect peoples privacy? He feared that Allah would reveal to the Prophet evidence of his hypocrisy. His guilt denied him to ever show his face to the Prophet . So he ran away to the mountains between Makkah and Madinah. Days went by and the Prophet kept asking the other companions if they had seen Tha’labah. No one had seen him. After 40 days, Jibreel (AS) came to the Prophet and said, your Lord (Allah) SubHanahu wa Ta’ala says Salam to you and says one of your companion is in the mountains between Makkah and Madinah.Rasulullah sent ‘Umar Ibn Al Khattab and Salman Al Farsi RadhiyAllahu ‘Anhuma to look for him. They looked everywhere until they came about a set of mountains between Makkah and Madinah where some nomads where herding sheep. The companions asked the nomads if they had seen a young man with Tha’laba’s characteristics. They told the companions, you must be asking about the one running away from Fire. They said we don’t who is that weeping boy. The shepherds described the boy to him and said, he comes down from the mountains at night weeping and crying and we give him milk to drink. Then he goes back up the mountains weeping, crying, always asking for Allah for forgiveness, and saying words of repentance. So the companions waited until he came down and watched him. He had lost his weight and become very frail. His countenance reflected sorrow as he drank the milk that was mixed with his tears. The companions insisted that they take him back to the Prophet but he refused and asked them if Allah had revealed verses saying he was a hypocrite. (Imagine the Taqwa this boy has. Just a mistaken gaze and he fears Allah will reveal about him in Qur’an). They told him that they had no knowledge of any such verses. He was taken back to Madinah and he was so frightened that he told the companions not to take him to Rasulullah unless he is in Prayer. So when he heard the recitations of Rasulullah in prayer, he came and joined with him. When the Prophet completed the prayer, he asked ‘Umar and Salman RadhiyAllahu ‘Anhuma about Tha’labah RadhiyAllahu ‘Anh. When he was brought before the Prophet , he asked him, why were you absent from me? He said, I was absent because of my sins. Rasulullah said, shall I not tell you about an Ayah that wipes out all the sins and mistakes? He said yes, O Rasulullah . Rasulullah asked him to recite: ربنا آتنا في الدنيا حسنة في الآخرة حسنة وقنا عذاب النار (البقرة 201)ـHe said my sin is very big, O Rasulullah . Rasulullah said, the words of Allah are the greatest. Then Rasulullah sent him to his home and he fell ill for a week. Salman Al-Farsi RadhiyAllah ‘Anh came to the Prophet and said Tha’labah is on verge of death. Rasulullah stood up and went to his house to meet him. He laid out Tha’labah’s tired and weak body and placed Tha’labah’s head on his lap. He said, O Prophet of Allah , remove the head of a sinner away from you. The Prophet comforted him until he told the Prophet , I feel as though ants are walking between my flesh and bones. The Prophet told him it was a sign of death and his time had come. He asked what do you like to have? He said, forgiveness of my Lord. Allah SubHanahu wa Ta’ala sent Jibreel (AS) to the Prophet and he said, your Lord says Salam to you and He (SubHanahu wa Ta’ala) says, if this servant of Mine meets Me with the whole earth full of sins, I will meet him with the whole earth full of Forgiveness. (When he died,) the Prophet asked them to wash him and shroud him. When he prayed his funeral prayer, the Prophet walked on his toes to bury him as though he were in a crowd. When he was asked about this, the Prophet said he could not find any place on earth to place his feet due to the crowd of angels that was following his bier.

Fabricated: Musa, the sinner of Bani Israel, and asking for rain.

Classification: Fabricated.
It was narrated that in the days that Musa alayhis salaam wandered with Bani Israeel in the desert, an intense drought befell them. Together, they raised their hands towards the heavens praying for the blessed rain to come. Then, to the astonishment of Musa alayhis salaam and all those watching, the few scattered clouds that were in the sky vanished, the heat poured down, and the drought intensified. It was revealed to Musa that there was a sinner amongst the tribe of Bani Israeel who had disobeyed Allah subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala for more than forty years of his life. “Let him separate himself from the congregation,” Allah subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala told Musa alayhis salaam. “Only then shall I shower you all with rain.” Musa alayhis salaam then called out to the throngs of humanity, “There is a person amongst us who has disobeyed Allah for forty years. Let him separate himself from the congregation and only then shall we be rescued from the drought.” That man waited, looking left and right, hoping that someone else would step forward, but no one did. Sweat poured forth from his brow and he knew that he was the one. The man knew that if he stayed amongst the congregation all would die of thirst and that if he stepped forward he would be humiliated for all eternity. He raised his hands with a sincerity he had never known before, with humility he had never tasted, and as tears poured down on both cheeks he said, “O Allah, have mercy on me! O Allah, hide my sins! O Allah, forgive me!” As Musa alayhis salaam and the people of Bani Israeel waited for the sinner to step forward, the clouds hugged the sky and the rain poured. Musa alayhi salaam asked Allah subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala, “O Allah, you blessed us with rain even though the sinner did not come forward.” And Allah subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala replied, “O Musa, it is for the repentance of that very person that I blessed all of Bani Israeel with water.” Musa alayhis salaam, wanting to know who this blessed man was, asked, “Show him to me O Allah!” Allah subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala replied, “O Musa, I hid his sins for forty years, do you think that after his repentance I shall expose him?”

Compilation: Light on the Day of Resurrection

Light on the Day of Resurrection:

{On that day you will see the believing men and the believing women-- their light running before them and on their right hand-- good news for you today: gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide therein, that is the grand achievement} [57:12]

This is by no means a comprehensive list, but here are some of the authentic ahadith which mention deeds that will be a source of light, for the person who does them, on the Day of Resurrection.

1) Turning gray in Islam.

Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him said: “Do not pluck out gray hairs, for there is no Muslim whose hair turns gray in Islam, except that it will be light for him on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sahih Targheeb and Sahih Abu Dawud)

2) Walking to the masjid in the dark.

Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him said: “Give glad tidings to those who walk to the masajid in darkness, of complete light on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sahih Ibn Majah, Sahih Tirmidhi, and Sahih Abu Dawud)

3) Reciting Surah Al-Kahf.

Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him said: “Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf in the same manner in which it was revealed, it will be light for him on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sahih Targheeb and Silsilah Sahiha)

*Note: It is sunnah to recite Surah Al-Kahf (# 18) on Fridays.

4) Shooting an arrow.

Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him said: “Whoever shot an arrow in the cause of Allah, it will be light for him on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sahih Targheeb)

5) Throwing the pebbles (Jamarat) during Hajj.

Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him said: “If you throw the pebbles, it will be light for you on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sahih Targheeb and Silsilah Sahiha)

6) Shaving your head during Hajj.

Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him said: “As for shaving your head, then there isn't but a single one of your hairs that falls on the ground, except that it will be light for you on the Day of Resurrection." (Sahih Targheeb)

Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him said: "Allah will gather mankind, the first and the last of them, on the Day whereon mankind will be gathered together, and they will be standing for forty years, their eyes fixedly staring in horror, waiting for the judgment. Then Allah, Glorified and Exalted, will say: 'Raise your heads.' So they raise their heads up, then He gives them their light according to their deeds, so some of them will get his light like a huge mountain running before him, and some of them will be given their light smaller than that..." (Sahih Targheeb)

So each will be given light according to their deeds.

{and to whomsoever Allah does not give light, then he has no light} [24:40]

Fabricated: Reward to the extent of our consciousness in prayer

Classification: Fabricated

(Refer to Silsilah Da'ifa; 6941)

"The Prophet informed us that we are only rewarded to the extent of our consciousness in prayer."

Please note that this is NOT a hadith of the Prophet peace be upon him and should not be attributed to him, but rather it is a statement of Sufyan Al-Thawri rahimahullah.

However, the following authentic hadith was narrated regarding perfecting our prayers such as having proper khushu' and concentration, as well as performing the actions of the prayer according to the sunnah, and that one's reward is in accordance to perfecting his prayer.

Ammar bin Yaasir radi Allahu anhu narrated that Prophet Muhammad sallahu alyihi wa sallam said, “One might finish the Salah, but only have a tenth, ninth, eighth, seventh, sixth, fifth, fourth, third, or half of it written for him” (Hasan, Sahih Abu Dawood; 796).

Fabricated: A Memory Like Ali.

Classification: Fabricated.

(Refer to Da'if at-Targheeb; 874)

Ibn Abbas said:
“We were with the Messenger of Allah salallahu alayhi wasalam when Ali bin Abi
Talib came to him, and he said: ‘May my father and mother be ransomed for you!
This Quran has suddently left my heart, and I do not find myself capable of it.’
So the Messenger of Allah salallahu alayhi wasalam said to him:
‘Oh Abul-Hasan! Should I not teach you words that Allah shall benefit you with, and
benefit whoever you teach, and they will make whatever you have learned in your
chest firm?’
He said: ‘Of course, O Messenger of Allah, so teach me.’
He said: ‘When it is the night of (before) Friday, then if you are able to stand up
in the last third of the night, then verily, it is a witnessed hour, and supplication is
answered in it. And my brother Ya’qub alayhi salam did say to his sons: ‘I shall seek
forgiveness for you from my Lord. (Quran 12:98) He said: Until the night of Friday
comes.’ So if you are not able, then stand in the middle of it, and if you are not
able, then stand in the first of it. And pray four Rak’ah. Recite Fatihaul-Kitab (the
Open of the Book) and Surat Ya Sin in the first Rak’ah, and Fatihatul-Kitab and Ha-
Mim ad-Dukhan in the second Rak’ah, and Fatihatul-Kitab and Alif Lam Mim Tanzil
as-Sajdah in the third Rak’ah and Fatihatul-Kitab and Tabarak Al-Mufassal in the
fourth Rak’ah. So when you have finished with the Tashah-hud, then praise Allah
and mention Allah’s greatness in an excellent manner, and send Salat upon me –
and be excellent in it- and upon the rest of the Prophets. And seek forgiveness
for the believing men and the believing women, and for your brothers who have
preceded you in faith. Then say in the end of that:
O Allah, have mercy on me by abandonment of sins forever, so long as You keep
me remaining. And have mercy on me from taking upon myself what does not
concern me, and provide me good sight for what will make You pleased with
me. O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Possessor of glory, and
generosity, and honor that is not exceeded. I ask you, O Allah, O Rahman, by Your
glory and the light of Your Face, to make my heart constant in remembering Your
Book as You taught me, and grant me that I recite it in the manner that will make
You please with me. O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Possessor
of glory, and generosity, and honor that is not exceeded. I ask you, O Allah, O
Rahman, by Your glory and the light of Your Face, to enlighten my sight with Your
Book, and make my tongue free with it, and to relieve my heart with it, and to
expand my chest with it, and to wash my body with it. For indeed, none aids me
upon the truth other than You, and none give it except You, and there is no might
or power except by Allah, the Most High, the Magnificent.
“Oh Abul-Hasan! So do this for 3 nights or 5 or 7, you will be answered – by the
will of Allah- by the One Who sent me with the Truth, it has not failed a believer
once.”

Abdullah ibn Abbas said: “So by Allah, Ali did not wait but five or seven until Ali
came to the Messenger of Allah salallahu alayhi wasalam in a gathering similar to
that and said: ‘Oh Messenger of Allah, indeed I was a man in the time that passed,
who used to not take except for Ayat or about that much, so when I would recite
them to myself they would suddenly depart from me, and today I learn forty Ayat
or about that much, and when I recite them to myself, then it is as if the Book
of Allah is before my eyes. I used to hear a hadith and when I would repeat it,
it would suddenly depart from me, and today I hear Ahadith, and when I report
them, I do not err in a single letter.’

So the Messenger of Allah salallahu alayhi wasalam said at that point: ‘A believer,
by the Lord of the Kaaba, O Abul-Hasan.”

Sahih: The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, although both are good.

Classification: Sahih (authentic)

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, although both are good. Strive to do that which will benefit you and seek the help of Allah, and do not feel helpless. If anything befalls you, do not say ‘If only I had done (such and such), then such and such would have happened,’ rather say: ‘Allah has decreed and what He wills He does,’ for ‘if only’ opens the door to the work of the shaytaan.” Narrated by Muslim (2664).

Fabricated: Musa and the Shepherd.

Classification: Fabricated.

There was once a free-spirited shepherd who possessed neither money nor the desire for it. All he had was a pure and kind heart, a heart that beat with the love of his Lord. All day long he wondegreen with his flock through pastures, plains, and fields, singing and talking all the while to his Beloved God: “Oh, dear Lord, where are You to whom I dedicate my life? Oh God, for whom I live and breathe, by whose grace I exist, I would sacrifice my sheep for the sight for You….”
One day Musa ” the prophet Moses ” was passing by a pasture on his way to the city. He noticed the shepherd, who was sitting by his flock with his face tilted up to the sky, addressing God: “Where are You so that I may sew Your clothes, mend Your socks, and make Your bed? Where are You so that I may comb Your hair and kiss Your feet? Where are You so that I may polish Your shoes and bring You milk to drink?”
Musa approached the shepherd and asked him, “Whom are you talking to?”
“To the One who has created us. The One who is Lord over day and night, earth and sky.”
Musa became enraged with the shepherd’s reply. “How dare you talk to God like that! What you are saying is blasphemous. You should stuff cotton in your mouth if you cannot control your tongue. Then, at least, no one would hear your outrageous insulting words, which have poisoned the very atmosphere. You must stop speaking like that at once, lest the Almighty punish the entire human race for your sin!”
The shepherd, who has arisen upon recognizing the prophet, stood shaken. With tears running down his cheeks, he listened as Musa continued: “Is the Almighty God a mere human being that He should wear shoes and socks? Is He an unformed infant in need of milk to make Him grow? Of course not! God is complete in Himself, needless of all! By speaking with the Lord as you have done, you disgrace not only yourself but all the rest of God’s creatures. You are naught but a deifier of religion and an enemy of God. Go and ask for forgiveness, if you have any sense left!”
The simple shepherd did not really understand what he had said to God that was so rude, or why the prophet had called him an enemy. Yet he knew that a prophet of God must know better than anyone else. Barely able to contain his sobs, he told Musa, “You have set fire to my soul. From now on my mouth is sealed!” With a deep sigh, he turned away from his flock and walked toward the desert.
Feeling proud that he had corrected a wayward soul, Musa was continuing on his way toward the city when the Almighty addressed him:
“Why did you come between Us and Our loyal servant? Why did you separate the lover from the Beloved? We have sent you so that you could unite one to the other, not break their ties.”
Musa listened to the heavenly words in awe and humility.
“We did not create this world in order to profit from it; creation is for the benefit of the creatures. We have no need of praise or worship; it is the worshipers who benefit from it. Remember that in Love, words are only the outer husk and mean nothing. We pay no heed to the beauty of the phrase or the composition of the sentence. We look only at the inner condition of the heart. In that way We know the sincerity of Our creatures, even though their words may be artless. For those who burn with Love have burned their words as well.”
The Voice from Heaven continued:
“Those who are bound by propriety are not like those who are bound in Love, and the nation of religion is not the nation of Love, for the lover knows no other religion than the Beloved Himself.”
The Lord thus taught Musa the secrets of Love, and now that he understood his mistake, the prophet regretted his outburst. And so he hurried off to find the shepherd and apologize.
For days Musa wondegreen over grassland and desert, asking people if they had seen the shepherd. Each one pointed in a different direction. It seemed a hopeless quest, but finally Musa came upon the shepherd sitting by a spring, his clothes torn and disheveled. He was in a state of deep meditation and did not notice Musa, who waited a long while. At last the shepherd lifted his head and looked at the prophet.
“I have an important message for you.” said Musa. “God has spoken, and He told me that there is no need for etiquette in your speech to God. You are free to talk to Him in any way you like, with any words you may choose. For what I thought was your blasphemy is actually the faith and love that saves the world.”
The shepherd answegreen simply: “I have passed the stage of words and phrases. My heart is now illuminated with His presence. I cannot explain my state to you. Nor can words describe it for others.” He then rose and started on his way.
Musa watched the departing figure of the shepherd until he could see it no more. Then he set out on the road to the nearest city, marveling at the lesson he had received from a simple unlettered worshiper.

Sahih: The True Dream is one of the forty-five parts of Prophet-hood.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Towards the end of time, hardly any dream of a Muslim will be false. The ones who have the truest dreams will be those who are truest in speech. The dream of a Muslim is one of the forty-five parts of Prophet-hood. Dreams are of three types: a good dream which is glad tidings from Allah, a dream from the Shaytan which causes distress, and a dream that comes from what a man is thinking of to himself.” [Muslim; 2263]

Weak: Du'a When Looking in the Mirror.

The narration which states that the Prophet peace be upon him used to say this du’a when he looked at himself in the mirror is weak. However, this du’a is mentioned in another narration which is authentic, but the authentic hadith does not say anything about when looking in the mirror specifically. Therefore, this du’a should be said in general, but not specifically when looking in the mirror because this is not established in the authentic sunnah.

Sahih: If a fly falls into your drink, then immerse it completely..

Classification: Sahih (authentic)

Narrated Abu Hurairah Allah be pleased with him that the Prophet Muhamad (peace and blessings upon him) said: "If a housefly falls into the drink of anyone of you, he should immerse it completely in the liquid, then remove it, for one of its wings has the disease and the other has the cure." (Sahih Bukhari, 3320)

In another narration of this hadith related by Abu Dawood, it also mentions that the fly protects itself with the wing that has the disease under it.

This means that when the fly falls into a container of food or drink, it falls with its wing that has the disease into the food/drink first, while the other wing with the cure might remain outside the drink. Therefore, we should immerse the fly completely into the food or drink before removing it.

Fabricated: An Interview with Shaytaan.

Classification: Fabricated.

Once, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was walking out with his companions from the back-side of Jannatul Baqi (Medina). As he was stepping out, he saw a very old man with a colorful hat on his head, a colorful belt with diamonds around his waist, a bell in his left hand and a net in his right hand.

This old man said, “As-Salaamu alaykum Ya Rasulu-llah” (O Prophet of Allah, may the peace of Allah be upon you) to our beloved Prophet (pbuh). The Prophet (pbuh) did not reply to his salaam. This old man knew very well why our Prophet (pbuh) did not return his salaam. After all, this old man was not like any other man, he was Shaytan, the cursed one. Then Shaytan said, “Salaamu-llahi Alaykum Ya Rasulu-llah” (Allah’s peace be upon you Oh Prophet of Allah). Then our Prophet (pbuh) accepted his salaam. Now the companions of the Prophet (pbuh) understood that this was the cursed one, Shaytan. And they were all surprised to see the cursed one personally.

Without any fruitful results, Shaytan attempted to misguide even the Prophets and Imams (AS). Shaytan, the cursed one, used to meet with the Prophets (AS) to answer their questions. In fact, it was obligatory on him (the cursed Shaytan) to answer the questions of the Messengers of Allah.

Our beloved Prophet (pbuh), though he possessed full knowledge, asked Shaytan the following questions for the sake of his companions: Our beloved Prophet (pbuh) asked: Oh Shaytan, what is this hat?

Shaytan, the cursed one: “Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), My colorful hat is this world. I present this world with all transient materialistic goods, perishable benefits, and temporary enjoyments. Once a person gets caught by this colorful hat of mine, then that person stays in my control and forgets all about the Hereafter.

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, what is this belt you are wearing with gold and diamonds around your waist?

Shaytan, the cursed one: “Oh Prophet (pbuh), this is my second weapon which keeps my back bone strong. Oh Prophet (pbuh), when believers do not fall into my trap by my hat then I use this weapon.

Prophet (pbuh): But what is it?

Shaytan, the cursed one: “Oh Prophet (pbuh), These are the materialistic unveiled(non- hijab) women of this world. Through these women I deceive the believers.

Remember: The full hijab is the covering of the whole body.

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, what is this bell you are holding in your left hand?

Shaytan, the cursed one: This is a bell through which I destroy the faith (Imaan) of the believers.

Prophet (pbuh): How do you do that?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Whenever I see believers arguing, getting into minor verbal antagonisms or disagreements with each other, then I ring this bell. As I ring this bell, these believers get into major verbal fights and start saying things to each other (such as backbiting, false accusations, or using bad language), due to which their own faith disappears from their hearts.

Prophet (pbuh): What is this net you are holding?

Shaytan, the cursed one: When I see the believers not getting trapped by any of my weapons, then I throw this net at them as my last weapon.

Prophet (pbuh): But what is this net?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), this is Riya! (performing good deeds only to show people). Whenever I see that your believers are performing all the good deeds and that they are not getting caught by my weapons, then I throw this net at them. By stepping into this net their good deeds, which they performed for Allah, become invalid. Because the believers gradually develop an ego in themselves while performing their Prayers, observing Fasts, performing Hajj, paying Zakat and Khums, and several other duties towards Allah. They perform all these and other good deeds; but after they get caught by my net, they show their good deeds to others and think that they have done a favour for Allah by performing such good deeds. They tell people when they perform night prayers. They tell people when they fast. They tell people when they go to Hajj. They give money in charity but only to show off or for their own personal interest. This is how they eventually feel superior to those people whom they know are not performing these good deeds. All these actions, which take place after they step into my net, makes their good deeds go to waste.

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, tell me one more thing. Now that you have spent so much of your time in this life with your bad deeds, do you have any friends?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Although I visit all the houses and people in general, there are 11 types of people that are my best friends and companions. And there are 15 types of people that I hate the most. Oh Prophet (pbuh), keep in mind that a person who is my friend is an enemy of Allah, and a person who is my enemy is a friend of Allah.

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, tell me who are your friends, and who are your enemies?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), first I have 15 enemies:

1) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my first enemy is you and your Ahlul Bayt; if it were not for you and your Ahlul-Bayt, my mission would have been quite successful. There would not have been even a single believer. But you brought the religion of Allah (Islam) to this world and you made people believers of Allah’s communication.

2) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my second enemy is that just ruler who rules a nation with complete justice.

3) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh). My third enemy is that rich person who does not have any ego nor feels super to poor people around him.

4) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my fourth enemy is that businessman who conducts his business with justice.

5) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), My fifth enemy is that scholar (Aalim) who fears Allah and practices what he preaches.

6) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my sixth enemy is that specific believer who works to show others the path of truth. Who offers the knowledge of obligatory (Wajibaat) and forbidden (Haraam) duties of Allah. This Person is undoing, all of my hard work.

7) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my seventh enemy is that person who doesn’t listen to what is forbidden, doesn’t look at what is forbidden, and doesn’t eat what is forbidden.

8) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my eighth enemy is that believer who keeps himself clean all the time. A person who remains in Wudhu and who wears clean clothes.

9) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my ninth enemy is that person who has a big heart, who spends his money for the sake of Allah.

10) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my tenth enemy is that person who gives charity (Sadaqah) only in the name of Allah.

11) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my eleventh enemy is that person who reads, memorizes and acts according to Qur`an.

12) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my twelfth enemy is that person who recites Salaat Al Lail (prayers recited after midnight and before the Salaat of Fajr). I am always afraid of this person.

13) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my thirteenth enemy is that person who pays his Khums, Zakaat, and other obligatory Sadaqah.

14) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my fourteenth enemy is that person who observes Hijaab (veil), and safeguards her Hijaab.

15) Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my fifteenth enemy is he who performs his worship (Ibaadat) without having any thoughts except for the thoughts of Allah.

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, and who are your eleven friends?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my friends are:

1) First, is that leader who is an oppressor (causes distress).

2) My second friend is that businessman who does his business by deceiving
his customers.

3) My third friend is that believer who drinks alcohol.

4) My fourth friend is that rich person who is proud of his wealth and who angrily refuses to give money in charity to the poor and needy.

5) My fifth friend is that person who does backbiting, who talks in such a way that enmity increases between the people, and who reveals the defects of people.

6) My sixth friend is that person who kills another human being for any reason other than for Allah.

7) My seventh friend is that person who snatches away the belongings of an orphan.

8) My eighth friend is that person whose livelihood is based on collecting interest.

9) My ninth friend is that person who gives more importance to his worldly life rather than giving importance to his life after death. This friend of mine prefers to perform those deeds which he knows will bring benefits in this world, but in the hereafter, such deeds will bring loss.

10) My tenth friend is that person who keeps long hopes and delays in asking for forgiveness from Allah.

11) My eleventh friend is that person who helps women increase their interest in performing magic on people.
These are my eleven friends who are the worst enemies of Allah.

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, tell us why you stop my followers from offering their prayers? What benefit do you get out of it?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Whenever your follower recites prayers, my body gets feverish and it starts to shiver; and with a sick body I can not deceive your followers from obeying Allah.

Prophet (pbuh): Why do you stop my followers from observing their fasts during the month of Ramadan?

Shaytan, the cursed one: I can’t deceive them during time they fast because I’m thrown into prison and I can’t misguide them.

Prophet (pbuh): When my followers prepare to fight in Allah’s way, why do you stop them?

Shaytan, the cursed one: When they go to fight for Allah’s sake, my hands are tied to my neck, and I can’t deceive them by having my hands tied to my neck.

Prophet (pbuh): Why do you prevent my followers from performing Hajj?

Shaytan, the cursed one: When they go for Hajj, their movement of going towards Hajj ties my legs. And with my legs tied, I cannot misguide your followers from obeying Allah’s commands.

Prophet (pbuh): Why do you prevent my followers from reciting the Holy Qur`an?

Shaytan, the cursed one: When they recite the Holy Qur`an, my existence turns into non-existence. And without having any existence, how can I deceive your followers from living according to the will of Allah?

Prophet (pbuh): Why do you prevent my followers from offering Du`a (supplication)?

Shaytan, the cursed one: When they recite Du`a I become deaf and dumb. How can I deceive your followers without having the ability to speak and the ability to listen?

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, tell me why you prevent my followers from paying Sadaqah?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), when your followers pay Sadaqah (giving money in charity), it is as if I am being cut in two with a saw, and one piece is thrown to the East and the other piece to the West.

Prophet (pbuh): Why do you get such a strong blow when my followers pay Sadaqah? Why do you get cut into two pieces?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Whenever a person gives his money in charity, that person receives three benefits from Allah. The first benefit such a person receives is that Allah becomes his borrower. The second benefit is that Allah makes Heaven his inheritance (such that he will be called an owner of Heaven). And the third benefit is that Allah increases his wealth 700 times, which in turn this person uses the increased wealth for charity.

Prophet (pbuh): Now tell me when does a person who is my follower get under your total control?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), your follower gets under my total control when they perform three things. The first thing is that when your follower becomes stingy he gets under my total control. Stinginess is the root of all sin, which makes a person perform all types of other sins. The second thing is that when a person starts forgiving his own sins. This person performs deeds that are against the will of Allah. Then he does not remember them nor does he ask for forgiveness. At that time he comes under my absolute control. And the third thing is that when a person gambles.

Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), any person who performs these three deeds falls under my absolute control.

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, you know that Allah has given my followers the strong weapon of repentance. Whenever my followers ask for true forgiveness with an intention of not repeating that sin, Allah forgives them. How do you deal with this problem?

Shaytan, the cursed one: I know Oh Prophet (pbuh), Allah has given them this strong weapon, but I have prepared myself to confront your followers with their strong weapon.

Prophet (pbuh): What method do you have through which you prevent my followers from asking for forgiveness?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), to deal with this problem I have created four different units. Each unit deals with a different age group of your followers. In each group I make your followers perform such deeds which makes their repentance invalid.

Prophet (pbuh): What are these units?

Shaytan, the cursed one: In the first unit I occupy your old men in four sins. I make them lie, I make them accuse someone of something which they have not done, I make them testify falsely and I make them perform prayers without having the complete knowledge of the laws of performing prayers. Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), your old men will be offering du`as and reciting obligatory prayers; but if you talk to them you will hear them talking bad about other people, falsely attributing bad deeds to other people without having any knowledge about those people, and reciting obligatory prayers without knowing all the laws of prayers. Your old men will not try to learn the laws of prayers because of their pride (ego). Whenever some young men from your Ummah try to explain the right way of performing Wudhu, your old men will get mad and say, “You have just entered Islam, and now you are trying to teach us how to perform Wudhu?”

Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my second unit is that which takes care of your young men. I do not prevent them from reciting prayers, performing Hajj or anything else; except that I lure them into two things. First, I make them look at things that are forbidden for them; and secondly, I make them listen to those things that are forbidden for them.

Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my third unit is that which deceives your old women. I entice them to backbite, to falsely accuse others, to destroy the character of men and women and to perform magic on the people.

Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), my fourth unit is not active because it is suppose to take care of the young women of your Ummah. Since all of your young girls are already my soldiers and I have a strong hold over them, I do not have a hard time deceiving them. However, sometimes I may find one girl in a thousand that is following your way of life and I will not be able to do anything to deceive her.

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, tell me do you get upset when you see any of your soldiers fleeing from you and following Allah’s commands?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), I do not get upset. I wait until that person performs any good deed, then I go to that person again and deceive him to believe that he has done a favour for Allah by performing that good deed.

Prophet (pbuh): You make that person feel that he has done a favor for Allah?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes, Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh). That person goes around after performing a good deed telling people what he has done. Such as, he recited prayers, observed fasts, paid so much money in charity, or helped someone in their time of need.

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, how do you deceive those followers of mine who try their best not to be deceived by you?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Allah made one deed, which if your followers perform with the right intention and at the right time, then they can never be deceived by me. And that deed is obligatory prayers. But to solve this problem, what I did was that with every one of your followers I have assigned to them one of my soldiers, whose name is Mutawaqee. And his job is to make your followers procrastinate and to preoccupy them in such activities due to which they will recite their prayers at the last minute. And when your followers recite their prayers at this time, they recite it in such a manner that their prayers are not acceptable to Allah.

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, since you know so much about Islam and its followers, why don’t you ask Allah for forgiveness?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), Allah does not want me to ask for forgiveness, so what can I do?

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, I heard that sometimes you feel as if someone has thrown a heavy stone on your head, which breaks your head into several pieces.

Shaytan, the cursed one: Oh Prophet of Allah (pbuh), yes it is true. Whenever your follower truly repents to Allah, I feel like that.

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, I heard that sometimes you feel as if your body is being cut into several pieces.

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes, when your followers go out to fight for the sake of Allah, I feel like that.

Prophet (pbuh): I heard that sometimes you feel as someone is slapping you.

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes, when your followers recite the Qur`an with correct pronunciation.

Prophet (pbuh): When are you thrown to the lowest pit of hell?

Shaytan, the cursed one: When your followers perform good deeds towards their parents or relatives.

Prophet (pbuh): I heard that sometimes you feel a great pain in your whole body.

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes, when your followers give charity without showing off.

Prophet (pbuh): I heard that sometimes you feel as if someone is whipping you.

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes, when your follower sees a non Mehram (a girl with whom a man can marry[woman outside your bloodline]) and then he immediately casts his eyes down.

Prophet (pbuh). Whom do you like the best among my followers?

Shaytan, the cursed one: that person who does business by deceiving people.

Prophet (pbuh). When do you get hurt the most?

Shaytan, the cursed one: When your followers remember Allah day and night.

Prophet (pbuh): Whom do you fear the most?

Shaytan, the cursed one: I fear those men who recite prayers in the first row of congregation (Jama`at).

Prophet (pbuh): Which people among my followers have you chosen to be your permanent soldiers?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Any of your followers who use any type of intoxicating beverages.

Prophet (pbuh): Which person makes you laugh?

Shaytan, the cursed one: That person who encourages others to commit sins.

Prophet (pbuh): With whom do you speak the most?

Shaytan, the cursed one: A person who lies the most.

Prophet (pbuh): Who is the most pleasing to you?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Any man who divorces an innocent woman.

Prophet (pbuh): Do you have any more friends?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes, that person who delays in offering his obligatory prayers.

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, where do you stay the most?

Shaytan, the cursed one: A place where non Mehram (possible to marry or outside bloodline) men and women get together without any separation or observing Hijaab, that is my place of stay.

Prophet (pbuh): Where do you meet people?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Bazaars (shopping malls); I try to make buyers deceive sellers and sellers deceive buyers. I also encourage men to do their business with women and women to do their business with men. I persuade people to all types of sins in bazaars.

Prophet (pbuh): What do you read?

Shaytan, the cursed one: I read songs.

Prophet (pbuh): What is your way of calling people towards committing sins?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Music and songs; whenever your followers listen to music they come toward me.

Prophet (pbuh): What is your book?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Playing cards are my book.

Prophet (pbuh): Who is your helper?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Any person who contributes to the defeat of your Muslims.

Prophet (pbuh): What do you eat?

Shaytan, the cursed one: I eat everything that is obtained by forbidden earnings or by not paying khums.

Prophet (pbuh): What do you drink?

Shaytan, the cursed one: I drink alcohol.

Prophet (pbuh): What is your dessert?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Backbiting.

Prophet (pbuh). Do you have any desires?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Every false commitment is my desire.

Prophet (pbuh): Are you thankful for anything?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes, I am thankful to those men and women who indulge in sins after asking Allah for forgiveness.

Prophet (pbuh): Do you relax?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes, when your followers miss Fajr (morning) prayers.

Prophet (pbuh): Do you get any rewards from my followers?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes, whenever your followers break their relationships with relatives or neighbours.

Prophet (pbuh): Do you have any companions?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes, that person who has sex with his wife without saying “Bismi-llahir Rahmanir Raheem” and that person whose earnings are through un-Islamic means.

Prophet (pbuh): What deed of my follower makes you angry?

Shaytan, the cursed one: When a mother tries to make her son (or daughter) fast or offer prayers.

Prophet (pbuh): Are there any men among my followers whom you cannot possibly misguide?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes, any man who does not intentionally look at a non-Mehram.

Prophet (pbuh): Are there any women among my followers whom you can’t misguide?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes, that woman who observes Hijaab and who listens to her husband (who must be just to her, of course).

Prophet (pbuh): Shaytan, Out of the men and women you have described, do you have any special men and women that you love the most?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Yes! Among women I love those women who do not observe Hijaab. And among men, those who are proud and those who are sinful Ulama (religious scholars).

Prophet (pbuh): Which men do you hate the most?

Shaytan, the cursed one: Four Men: The first are humble rich men. The second are Ulama who practice what they preach. The third are young men who ask for forgiveness. And the fourth are old men who fear Allah.

Prophet (pbuh): Are you alone or do you have any companions?

Shaytan, the cursed one. Yes, I have some companions who gather at the mosques in order to deceive its visitors. My companions make the visitors talk about things that give them bad deeds instead of good deeds. Other companions make your wise followers think of their bad deeds as few and their good deeds as many. And other companions, when they see someone giving money in charity or helping someone for the sake of Allah, they entice (tempt) that person to tell others of his charity and good deeds.

Then Shaytan, the cursed one said, “O Prophet of Allah (pbuh),. I have talked to you in much detail. I would like to tell you that you are working towards taking people to heaven and I am working towards taking people to hell.” After this, Shaytan, the cursed one gave Salaams to our beloved Prophet (pbuh) and disappeared.

If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is good for him.” (Narrated by Muslim, 2999).

Sahih: The servant who is devoted to Allah.

Classification: Sahih (authentic)

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whosoever shows enmity to someone devoted to Me, I shall be at war with him. My servant draws not near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have obligated upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him. When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant it to him. I do not hesitate about anything as much as I hesitate about [seizing] the soul of My faithful servant: he hates death and I hate hurting him.” Narrated by Al-Bukhari, 6502.

Fabricated: Abu Haneefa prayed Fajer with the Wudu of Isha; Saw sins of people.

Classification: Fabricated

Imam Abu Haneefah prayed Fajer salah with the same wudu of Isha for 40 years. And Imam Abu Hanifah refrained to do Wudu in the Masjid because Allah had blessed him with a miracle. He was able to see the sins coming off a person doing wudhu- so to prevent him having bad thoughts of people- he always did wudu elsewhere.

Note: Imam Abu Hanifa rahimahullah was one of the well known scholars of Islam, but there is no need for fabricated stories such as the ones above in order to prove so. Additionally, it is not from the sunnah to pray all night long on every night, as the Prophet (peace & blessings upon him) used to pray part of the night and sleep part of it.

Al-Bukhari (5063) and Muslim (1401) narrated that Anas ibn Malik said: Three people came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asking about the worship of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When they were told, it was as if they regarded it as too little. They said: Who are we in comparison to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)? Allah has forgiven his past and future sins. One of them said: As for me, I will pray all night forever. Another said: I shall fast all my life and never break my fast. Another said: I shall keep away from women and never get married. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came and said: “Are you the ones who said such and such? By Allah, I am the one who fears Allah the most among you and I am the most pious, but I fast and I break my fast, I pray and I sleep, and I marry women. Whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not of me.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5063) and Muslim (1401).

Fabricated: Prophet making Tawaf, Bedouin, and Jibreel coming down twice.

Classification: Fabricated.

While the Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam was making Tawaf (circling) around ka`ba, he over heard a Bedouin saying: O Kareem (Gracious). The Prophet repeated after him O Kareem. The Bedouin went in the direction of the drain and said: O Kareem, the Prophet salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam again repeated after him saying O Kareem. At this point, the Bedouin turned to the Prophet salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam and said: O you who have a handsome illuminating face and graceful figure, are you mocking me because I am a Bedouin? Wallahi, if not for your handsome illuminating face and graceful figure, I would have complained about you to my beloved Mohamed salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam. The Prophet salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam smiled and said: O Arab brother don’t you know your Prophet? The Bedouin answered: no. Then the Prophet salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam asked him: Then what is your faith in him? The Bedouin replied: I believed in his prophethood and I never saw him, I believed his message and I never met him. The Prophet said: O Bedouin, be informed that I am your Prophet in this Dunya (world) and one who will intercede for you in the Here After. Surprised was the Bedouin, he rushed forward to kiss the Prophet’s hand. The Prophet salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam reacted saying: O Arab brother, don’t treat me like how the non-Arabs do to their kings. Allah May He be Glorified sent me not an arrogant nor tyrant but rather sent me with the truth, a bringer of glad tidings and a warner. At this moment, Angel Jibreel came down to the Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam and told him: O Mohamed Assalam (Allah) conveys to you salam and gives you exclusively greetings and honor. Allah Wants you to tell the Bedouin not to depend much on our Graciousness and Patience, tomorrow We Shall Put him into account for what is minor and major, the Qitmir (the thin membrane over the date-stone) and Fateel. The Bedouin said: O Messenger of Allah will my Lord judge me? He said: yes, if He Wills. The Bedouin said: in the Name of His Majesty and Glory, if He puts me to judgment, I will put Him into judgment. The Prophet salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam said: O Arab brother, for what shall you put your Lord to judgment?
The Bedouin replied: if He judges me for my sins, I shall judge Him for his Forgiveness, if He Judges me for my disobedience, I shall judge Him for His Pardon, if He Judges me for my stingyness, I shall judge Him for His Bountifulness. In response, the Prophet salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam cried hard till his beard became wet. Again Jibreel came down to the Prophet salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam and told him: O Mohamed, Assalam Conveys Salam to you and Tells you: O Mohamed, decrease from your crying, you made the (Angels) carriers of the throne pre occupied that they stopped their Tasbeeh (remembrance). Jibreel continued, and tell your Arab brother that he doesn’t judge us nor Shall We Judge him, he will be your companion in Jannah.

Sahih: Jewish boy who got sick accepted Islam.

Classification: Sahih (authentic)

From Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: “A Jewish boy used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he fell sick. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went and visited him. He sat by his head and said, ‘Enter Islam.’ The boy looked at his father, who was present. (His father) said, ‘Obey Abu’l-Qaasim (meaning the Prophet peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).’ So the boy entered Islam and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) left saying, ‘Praise be to Allah Who has saved him from the Fire.’”
Narrated by Al-Bukhaari (1356)

Sahih: He threw the rock at the man's head, smashing it...

Classification: Sahih (authentic)

It was narrated that Samurah ibn Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) often used to ask his companions, ‘Did any one of you see a dream?’ So dreams would be described to him by those who Allah willed should speak. One morning, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Last night, two people came to me (in a dream), and woke me up and said, ‘Let’s go!’ I set out with them, and we came across a man who was lying down, with another man standing over him, holding a big rock. He threw the rock at the man's head, smashing it. The rock rolled away, and the one who had thrown it followed it, and picked it up. By the time he came back to the man, his head had been restored to its former state. Then he (the one who had thrown the rock) did the same as he had done before. I said to my two companions, ‘Subhan Allah! Who are these two persons?’ They said, ‘Move on!’ So we went on, and came to a man who was lying flat on his back, with another man standing over him, holding an iron hook. He put the hook in the man's mouth and tore off that side of his face to the back (of his neck), and he tore his nose and his eye from front to back in a similar manner. Then he turned to the other side of the man's face and did likewise. No sooner had he finished the second side but the first side was restored to its former state, then he went back and did the same thing again. I said to my two companions, ‘Subhan Allah! Who are these two persons?’ They said, ‘Move on!’ So we went on, and came to something like a tannoor (a kind of oven, lined with clay, usually used for baking bread). I think the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, in that oven there was much noise and voices. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) added: We looked into it and saw naked men and women. A flame of fire was reaching them from underneath, and when it reached them, they cried out loudly. I asked them, ‘Who are these?’ They said to me, ‘Move on!’ So we went on and came to a river – I think he said, red like blood. – In the river there was a man swimming, and on the bank there was a man who had gathered many stones. Whilst the swimmer was swimming, the man who had gathered the stones approached him. The swimmer opened his mouth and the man on the bank threw a stone into it, then the swimmer carried on swimming. Each time he came back, he opened his mouth again, and the man on the bank threw another stone into his mouth. I said to my two companions, ‘Who are these two persons?’ They said, ‘Move on, move on!’ We went on and came to a man who had the most repulsive appearance imaginable. Beside him there was a fire, which he was kindling, and he was running around it. I asked my companions, ‘Who is this man?’ They said, ‘Move on, move on!’ So we went on until we reached a garden of deep green dense vegetation, with all kinds of spring colours. In the midst of this garden was a very tall man, whose head I could hardly see because of his great height. Around him there were children, a great number such as I have never seen. I said to my companions, ‘who is this man, and who are these children?’ They said, ‘Move on, move on!’ So we went on, until we came to a huge garden, bigger and better than any I have ever seen. My two companions said to me, ‘Go up.’ So we went up into it, until we reached a city built of gold and silver bricks. We went to the gate and asked for it to be opened. It was opened and we entered the city, where we found men with one side of their bodies more handsome than the most handsome person you have ever seen, and the other side uglier than the ugliest person you have ever seen. My two companions ordered those men to throw themselves into the river. There was a river flowing through the city, and its water was pure white. The men went and threw themselves in the river, and came out with the ugliness in their bodies gone, and they were in the best shape. (My two companions) said to me, ‘This is the Paradise of ‘Aden (the Garden of Eden), and that is your place.’ I looked up and saw a palace like a white cloud. They said to me, ‘That is your place.’ I said to them, ‘May Allah bless you both, let me enter it.’ They said, ‘For now you will not enter it, but you shall enter it (one day).’ I said to them, I have seen many wonders this night. What do all these things mean that I have seen?’ They said: ‘We will tell you. The first man you came across, whose head was being smashed with the rock, is the man who studies the Qur’an then he neither recites it nor acts upon it, and he goes to sleep, neglecting the obligatory prayers. The man you came across whose mouth, nose and ears were being torn from front to back, is the man who goes out of his house in the morning and tells a lie that is so serious that it spreads all over the world. The naked men and women whom you saw in a structure that resembled an oven are the adulterers and adulteresses. The man you saw swimming in the river with rocks being thrown into his mouth is the one who consumed riba (usury). The ugly-looking man whom you saw kindling a fire and walking around it was Malik, the keeper of Hell. The tall man whom you saw in the garden was Ibrahim, and the children around him were the children who died (young) in a state of fitrah (natural state of mankind, i.e., Islam).’ – Some of the Muslims asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what about the children of the mushrikeen?’ He said, ‘And the children of the mushrikeen too.’ – ‘As for the men who were half handsome and half ugly, they were people who had mixed a good deed with another deed that was bad, but Allah forgave them.’” (narrated by Al-Bukhari, no. 6525)

Fabricated: Give your brother 70 excuses.

Classification: Fabricated.

"Give your brother 70 excuses"

Note: Although this is not a hadith of the Prophet (peace & blessings upon him), however, similar statements have been related from the sayings of some of the early scholars of Islam. Fabricated: Allah does not look at the crooked line.

Classification: Fabricated.

The hadith which states that Allah does not look at the crooked line (meaning the line of people in prayer).

Note: The lines for prayer should be straightened and the gaps closed for the following authentic ahadith:

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (690) and Muslim (433) from Anas, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Make your rows straight, for straightening the rows is part of the perfection of prayer.” According to the version narrated by al-Bukhaari: “… is part of the establishing of prayer.”

Ahmad (12374), Abu Dawood (671) and al-Nasaa’i (818) narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Complete the first row, then the next one, and if there is to be any incomplete row let it be the last row.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

Ahmad (5724) and Abu Dawood (666) narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Straighten the rows, for you form rows like the angels, and keep your shoulders in line with one another, and fill the gaps, and do not leave any room for the Shaytaan. Whoever joins a row to complete it, Allaah will take care of him and whoever interrupts a row, Allaah will cut him off.” This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Make your rows straight, stand shoulder to shoulder and close the gaps, and do not resist your brothers’ hands. Do not leave any gaps for the Shaytaan. Whoever complete a row, Allaah will reward him, and whoever breaksa row, Allaah will forsake him.

Abu Dawood said: What is meant by “Do not resist your brothers’ hands” is that a man should be easy-going if his brother pushes him forwards or backwards to make the row straight. (‘Awn al-Ma’bood).

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 666; al-Nasaa’i, 819. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 620.

It was narrated that al-Nu’maan ibn Basheer said:

“The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) turned to face the people and said, ‘Straighten your rows,’ three times, ‘for by Allaah either you straighten your rows or Allaah will create division among your hearts.’ And I saw men standing shoulder to shoulder, knee to knee, ankle to ankle.”

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 662; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 616.

Al-Bukhaari, may Allaah have mercy on him, narrated (683) from Anas that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Make your rows straight, for I can see you from behind my back.”

Anas said: “so each of us would stand with his shoulder against his neighbour’s shoulder and his foot against his foot.”

Al-Bukhaari (may Allaah have mercy on him) gave this chapter the title: “Chapter on standing shoulder to shoulder and foot to foot.”

He said: al-Nu’maan ibn Basheer said: “I saw people standing with their ankles against their neighbours’ ankle.”

Fabricated: Umar bin al-Khattab burried his daughter alive.

Classification: Fabricated.

On one occasion, a few companions saw Umar ibn al-Khattab (Allah be pleased with him) laughing and then crying; one after the other. They asked what reason made him laugh then cry. He said, "I remember that in the days of Jahiliyyah, I used to have this idol made of dates. One day, I became so hungry that I ate it. And then, I cried when I remembered digging a hole and burying my daughter alive. While I was putting her in, she reached up and brushed dirt from my beard.”

Fabricated: Hassan & Hussein teach an old man how to do wudu'.

Classification: Fabricated.

One day an old pious Bedouin came to Medina. At the time of Prayers he began to make wudu’ but he was making his wudu' (ablution) incorrectly. Hassan and Hussain (Allah be pleased with them both) saw the old man making wudu’ wrong and they wanted to correct him. They didn’t want to offend him or make him feel insulted, so they came up with a plan. They went to the old man and said, "My brother and I disagree over who amongst us performs wudu’ the best. Would you mind watching us make wudu’ and be the judge to see which one of us indeed performs wudu' more correctly? Could you please correct us wherever we are wrong?" The man watched carefully trying to judge who is better. In the end he understood what was going on and said "By Allah, I did not know how to perform wudu’ before this. You have both taught me how to do it correctly."

Fabricated: A man complained about being poor so the Prophet told him to get married.

Classification: Fabricated.

This story goes something like this: A man came to the Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allah upon him) and complained about being poor, so the Prophet told him to get married. Then the man came back again with the same complaint, so the Prophet again told him to get married. The man came back a third time, and still the Prophet told him to get married. After the fourth time, the man got married to a woman who knew how to sew (she was a tailor), so she used to make clothes and sell them and she also taught all the other 3 wives how to sew, so the man became rich.

Fabricated: The neighbor who used to throw trash at the Prophet's door.

Classification: Fabricated.

The story goes something like this: The Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allah be upon him) had a jewish neighbor who used to throw trash at his door every day. The Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allah be upon him) was patient and did not do anything. One day, the Prophet noticed that there was no trash at his door, so he went to check on his neighbor who turned out to be sick. She asked him how did he know and he said because there was no trash at his door that day, so the woman was so touched that she accepted Islam.
